The BRITS 2023 - From America
Yesterday (last night?), the BRITS Awards 2023 commenced, and like every award show nowadays, there’s always something to talk about.
Harry Style’s massive year just seems to keep growing. Coming off his Grammy weekend, Styles cleaned house, winning all four of the awards he was nominated for, including Artist of the Year. Even after another Beyoncé got snubbed for Album of the year, she added more hardware with two BRITS wins for Best International Artist and International Song of the Year. The Indie Rock group Wet Leg, who’s coming off a two-win Grammy weekend, won two more awards for Best New Artist and Best British Group. Rapper Aitch beat out a heavyweight group of other formidable foes to take home the award for Best Hip-Hop/Rap/Grime Artist.
Boolah's Corner - I didn’t watch, but I’m trying to catch up on Twitter. Harry thanking his other One Direction brothers was a nice gesture. I know there were a lot of people upset that Beyoncé take home the Grammy for Album of the Year, and after learning the history of her losing multiple times, and seeing how big her year has been, I’d be pissed too. I’m sorry Aitch fans, but anybody else but him. Not saying he’s bad, but the others are just that good. My favorite story is Wet Leg, and after writing this, I’m going to go dive into this album they have. If it charted #1 in the UK and Australia, top 5 in Ireland and New Zealand, and top 10 in Germany, maybe I just need to go touch grass more.
Side note, I love Sam Smith. They’re incredible, but that outfit is a night terror.
