Born and raised in the Central Valley of California (Delano/Bakersfield), Ambz is a DJ, Blend maker, member of the Academy of DJs, and one of the Creative Collaborators with the Bakersfield based creative platform 4U&I. She is also the host of the "in-session" mix series which you can find on her SoundCloud Profile. Growing up with her dad and uncles all being DJs, Ambz was ingrained in the culture from the start. "I think I have multiple pics of me as a baby in some Jordan’s next to my dad’s crate of vinyls," she told me in our interview.
Outside of her passions for music, Ambz works in healthcare during the day and is deeply passionate about breaking down barriers to entry and helping make healthcare more accessible to everybody in every situation, particularly in Kern County, where she's from. She received her Master's in Public Health with a concentration in Health Equity and Social Justice and is working towards PhD programs to continue the fight.
"My influences are really all the homies hehe. Sure we got the pioneers who paved the way for future beats and SoundCloud, but truly being around folks like y’all (internet friends ftw) really help.
I think my “brand” as Ambz embraces the idea of sharing good music that people may not be familiar with and a lot of the homies are creating this type of music. I also hope my brand as Ambz inspires other women to tap into their passions (creatively, professionally, etc) - like we really can be a baddie in all spaces <3 "
