I usually try to write these before hand but it's midnight and I still haven't written anything. I'm still working hard on fleshing out the streetwear side of things. I ordered some heavier garments from Spain and I'm hoping to connect with somebody in the city for printing/embroidery.
I was lucky enough to be able to go to a studio session for an artist I had met in high school and it was incredible to see her in her element, owning the entire moment, and just blowing the top off any expectations I had for her. Then, I look behind her, and her keyboardist is somebody who I know from around town and he, with the rest of the band, were out of this world. I walk into the control room, and I know the engineer from way back when I use to make beats. After leaving, I get a text from the engineer to come over to his studio and I got to meet his homies and see the space he works in. It was just a reminder. Thank God for rap. It reminded me how hard people in this city are working for their dreams.
You know who exemplified hard work? Tony Allen. Plain and simple. If he was playing, you know there's somebody on the court who wasn't taking a second off and it was going to be a long ass night.
I've only been to one basketball game in my life. Grizzlies vs. 76ers in 2013. My dad's from Philly and we went down to Memphis to see the Grizzlies play and stay the night in Memphis. I remember going into the Grizzlies team store and seeing a Rudy Gay jersey on the wall. That was the first ever basketball jersey I got. I kind of wish I got a Tony Allen jersey.
