misunderstood. - Seth Sutch

Back in February, I came across a rapper on my Twitter (X?) timeline who was in the midst of promoting his newest release, “before the sunset”. It takes a lot for somebody’s music to capture my attention and it takes even more to have my eyes and ears glued to whatever they’re doing. Let’s be real, there’s so many options nowadays when it comes to music/content that finding something to really peak my attention was sort of euphoric. That rapper was East Houston, TX native Seth Sutch, and he’s returned with a video to accompany his newest single, “misunderstood.” which Seth uses to set the record straight. Who is Seth Sutch?

“Don’t lean on your understandin’, go play with the card at hand, I can make a way, that is my advantage, if she ghost me, I’ma really vanish"

Like I said in my initial write-up, all you need do for Seth is set the table and let him eat, and the fall weather hasn’t changed his appetite. With shorty, a droptop and a friendly Jack-O-Lantern in tow, Seth is as open as the field he rides around in, speaking frankly about the lessons within his own growth process and how these new found remedies help cauterize and heal old wounds. Even doubling down in the second verse to speak directly on the addiction in his family, incarcerated loved ones, near death experiences; no wonder Seth has so much stoicism attached. He’s already lived a couple lifetimes.

In typical Seth Sutch fashion, the answer requires you to follow along. Follow the music, follow the lyrics, but it’s really deeper than rap. Real ones follow the mission, and all year long, whether it’s in front of live audiences or in front of your screen, Seth’s been putting on. For his family, his people, his community, but more importantly, himself.
