One thing I like to try to keep in mind is that it’s not always black or white. I use to be so stuck in the mindset of “if it’s not this, it’s that”, without considering that most likely the resolution is in the grey area. Humans and the Human Experience is not a linear path with limited colors. It is, and always has been, limitless shades of any color you can think of.
Philadelphia native Theo Major knows this, and his latest two songs from his project Soul Ties tells the story of two sides of the same journey. His track “JUNKIE” exudes those feelings of passion and lust. This one is bass heavy, sensual R&B and Theo’s voice cuts through like sunshine through the clouds. The video encapsulates a lot of those feelings too, featuring a B&W visual of Theo entranced by a woman, almost acting like a siren. Even though it’s just two songs, “JUNKIE” is a standout track from Theo Major’s catalog. “Didn’t Agree” features the other side of romance, almost the unintended consequences of a passion that burned bright. The shedding of that skin into a new flesh, but this isn’t the part they always tell you about. They talk about the intimacy, the conversations, the sex, the belonging, but what about when that novelty wears off? Where does you and your love stand?
I don’t know if I’ve ever been in love before. I’ve definitely felt special by the way people have treated me, but don’t get it twisted, that’s not love. I’ve always heard, love is the good and bad times, but it’s also effortless. I don’t think that love has to be a struggle or something that feels like it needs extra attention in order to stay nurtured.
Keeping The Garden nurtured shouldn’t be a hassle.
