Untitled 006 - Chasey The Illest

I remember reading that when Tyrone Wrice (Hurt-M-Badd) produced “Hail Mary” for 2Pac, he wanted it to sound ominous, almost like a Hip-Hop funeral. Pac was the first rapper that I really looked at and admired, and I learned a lot about Pac’s work ethic in the studio. The big thing I took away was every artist has a sound/style that speaks to them personally and having that perfect “platform” (production/instrumental/beat) to deliver the best version of themselves is really what expression is.

“I’m in an hourglass doing wheelies on dirtbikes…”

Have you ever felt that feeling when somebody is doing what they do best? Detroit native Chasey The Illest is one of the ones. Whether it’s online radio shows, the tops of cars, or in bombed-out churches, he can deliver on a moment's notice. I’ll always put my money on Chasey and his track “Untitled 006” has me upping the ante. His ability to create these in-depth landscapes, built out of his own story and experiences, has really put Chasey on that level I can respect

That slow build creates this ghastly tension, and as soon as that switch-up comes in, something in the air changes, and then he’s off to the races. That mad dash of expression and screaming to the world your story. You can feel it in his tone as he goes, and you can hear him bursting at the seams and by the time he’s finished, it really does feel like a cathartic release.

I think Chasey and Pac have some a similarity. Fearlessness. If you really want to chase your dreams, I do believe that you have to be in it 100%, and you have to understand that it’ll take a second before you “get anywhere” and you need to be down for the cause.

Good Things Take Time, right?
